A few more backyard images from a lovely Friday afternoon. These were mostly about the new "rescue" poppies, but some other plants made it in, too. There is still a new poppy that hasn't quite popped yet, so we're waiting to find out its color. Maybe today is its day to come out.
Rambling about photography and stuff...

Seattle Solstice Parade and Painted Cyclists 2011
June 18, 2011 came with rain and overcast skies. The second year in a row for this to happen for the Seattle Solstice Parade in Fremont. This after a dozen or so years of beautiful weather. Yeah, there was one year that we got a big dump of rain as the parade was ending. But these past two years have had the parade start in the rain. However, it has not dampened the spirits. And I kind of like the overcast weather for the even light and rich colors.
As has been the custom for a number of years, the parade, staged by the Fremont Arts Council, was crashed by the body painted Solstice Cyclists. This year a film crew was making a film called "Beyond Naked" that would follow 4 people who would be riding in the parade for the first time. Expect to see the film released around the Winter Solstice in December.
Here are some photos. More photos are available at http://photos.cornicello.com/sol_cycles

Even Santa made a guest appearance |
The Keystone Cops kept the cyclists in line so they didn't interfere with the actual parade following behind them |

Getting In Close
I was at the Glazer's Camera Photofest 2011 for a while on Saturday morning and couldn't pass up the 15% discount on used lenses when I saw an old Tamron 90mm macro. So I spent Saturday afternoon and Sunday with the one lens in my backyard, my living room, and at the Ballard Sunday Market.
All images today taken with a Canon 5DmkII and Tamron 90mm f/2.8 macro (older model, #172E)

Fremont Briefcase Relay and 5K Fun Run
Tonight was the annual Fremont Briefcase Relay. It happens right outside my office, so I stuck around to take some photos after work today. The run benefits Solid Ground's Hunger Action Center.
Not much more to say, so here are some photos...

All above images made with a Canon 7D and Canon 70-200L f/4 IS lens.
