June 18, 2011 came with rain and overcast skies. The second year in a row for this to happen for the Seattle Solstice Parade in Fremont. This after a dozen or so years of beautiful weather. Yeah, there was one year that we got a big dump of rain as the parade was ending. But these past two years have had the parade start in the rain. However, it has not dampened the spirits. And I kind of like the overcast weather for the even light and rich colors.
As has been the custom for a number of years, the parade, staged by the Fremont Arts Council, was crashed by the body painted Solstice Cyclists. This year a film crew was making a film called "Beyond Naked" that would follow 4 people who would be riding in the parade for the first time. Expect to see the film released around the Winter Solstice in December.
